Just A Penny On the Train Tracks

      Today was the last day of The Great Escape and, after arriving at Brighton train station, we bumped in to @[5518506343:Ben Kweller] who'd been on the same train as us.

      We shared a cab down to the shore and then Ben invited us to watch him sound check at Digital, which only took about ten minutes (because he was just that good).

    Afterwards, BK treated us to milkshakes and fried food in JB's America diner. I had gingerbread and Ben had marshmallow, but we all agreed that my one was the best. We chatted about root beer, music, our favorite iPhone apps, London / America, temporary tattoos, webdesign and he took a bunch of CO+K Moo cards to give to his wife, Lizzie. He thinks Tom looks like @[112832662064887:Adam Green]... which I hadn't realised before.

    His manager then convinced him to play a secret gig in the park, so we all headed along with seconds to spare.

    It was an acoustic gig, where the audience made lots of requests and, when he played Penny On The Train Tracks (our favourite song) he dedicated it to us. Tom helped him sell CDs after the show and we sold about 30 of them.

      We walked back along the beach and waved by to Ben, who we'd be seeing later at his gig.

      It was then time to see some of the rest of the festival, so we grabbed some postcards and headed to the Unitarian Church just in time to see @[507435354:Catherine Anne Davies] perform!

      We then went to see Ben's gig at Digital which was packed. It was sad saying bye to him but he promised to be in touch and "chat web" with Tom.

    Our last gig of the festival was @[9028598145:Idlewild] on the @[19343183144:Drowned in Sound] stage at the Honeyclub, which was also really good.

    We ate dinner on the last train back to London, feeling very sleepy. I can't wait to come back to Brighton on a sunny day this summer.
