Bumping in to The Queen

      We got up really early today to head out on an adventure around East Anglia and Essex. We got rover passes which meant we could take as many trains as we liked for around £10 each.

      Our first stop was Cambridge which was really pretty. There were bikes everywhere!

    We were wandering around the streets when it suddenly got very busy with people. We followed the crowds where we spotted the Queen, who was in town to open the new botanical gardens.

    We then walked through the center and past the colleges.

    Afterwards we went down to the canal where there were lots of punters. I wanted to rent a boat but Tom was sure he'd fall in if he tried to punt.

    Our second stop was Ely which was very picturesque with horses, flowers and a huge cathedral.

      We sneaked through the cathedral and walk down the high street to the riverside.

    We were tempted to have lunch beside the river but the cafes were really expensive. There were a few people nautical cycling.

      We then stopped off in Ipswich but, after a short walk down from the station, we decided it wasn't for us and jumped back on the train.

      Our next stop was Southend On Sea where we picked up gumballs on our way to the beach.

      Southend has the longest pier in the world.

      It was so long that there was a train to take you to the far end.

    Our final stop of the day was Brentwood. We've been watching @[138587549516886:The Only Way is Essex] so we were curious to see what Essex was like and everyone actually was orange!

      We went for dinner at Cafe Rouge which was really nice. I had a red onion and goats cheese tart to start.

      I then had the mushroom pasta which was also very tasty.
