    When we went for breakfast this morning, the dining carriage had been decorated for Mardi Gras. The staff were all so friendly but they'd spelt it as Mardi Gars.

      We passed through Atlanta Georgia while we were having lunch.

    The landscape changed so much as we hit the south, with pretty forests and huge lakes.

    Tom and I played the games "spot the trailer park" and "wave at truckers" to pass the time.

      We then passed through Birmingham, Alabama which I'd really like to visit some day.

    As we passed through Tennessee we kept an eye out for bears in the woods and crocodiles in the swamps.

    Over dinner, an old lady complemented us on how good our English was, after we told her we lived in England. Her husband reminded her that we invited the language and she responded, "well some parts are still uncivilised".

      We pulled in to New Orleans in the late evening.

      We shared a cab downtown with 6 other people, which was in full swing from Mardi Gras and made our way tot he hotel. This was the amazing view of the city.
