    Happy Valentine's day, we're going to be spending it on a train.

      After leaving New York an hour late, we caught the @[9411224013:Amtrak] Crescent train on our journey to New Orleans. The journey was 30 hours long but it meant that we’d get to see a lot more of America.

      We had our own little room, complete with bunk beds, seats and a toilet (you’d really have to be friends with the person you’re traveling with).

    We just sat and watch the world go by for a few hours. There was still a lot of snow on tracks but we were very lucky because we wouldn't have been able to take the train if we'd been leaving a day earlier.

    Everything looked so pretty as the sun was setting. I don't know what a breakfast hoagie is but I want to try one!

      We tried to get as much WIFI as we could in stations, but it didn’t work too well.

      This building in Philadelphia was all lit up for Valentine's day.

    It was then time for dinner and we were called through to the dining carriage, which was all decorated for Valentine’s day. We sat with a couple from Virginia, who were keen to discuss what food we have / don't have in the UK. The police officer boyfriend asked “d’yall got salt and pepper over in England?” and if we drank tea.

      We passed through Washington at bedtime, so I peered through the window trying to spot landmarks. I think I did quite well. It was really cosy sleeping in our bunks as the train gently swayed through empty stations.
