We were off to Brighton to meet Dorothy today, so we got up a little earlier so we could take a detour via Hastings.
It was a little seaside town and I found a cute dog shop where I was able to get a Pick N Mix for Morty.
True crime is one of my guilty pleasures and there's a whole museum dedicated to it down in Hastings.
Located on the seaside promanade, Hastings True Crime Museum looks a little out of place between the ice cream shops and hotels.
When I spotted that they had was a special exhibition on Jack The Ripper, I knew I'd come to my kind of place.
The first room was filled with memorabilia used in crimes, like a rubber Wayne Rooney mask used in a robbery and bolt cutters used to break into a safe.
There were recreations of the skulls of Lizzie Borden's parents after she had blugeoned them to death.
Actually, there were a lot of belljars filled with skulls.
They had some boxing gloves belonging to, two of my favourites, The Krays.
Things got a little gorier after we made our way through a tunnel to a crime scene painted with luminal which, of course, "lit up like a Christmas tree".
In the Death Chamber you could see a real lethal injection table, along with a hanging noose and the bathtub that John Childs used to dismeber his victims.
There were lots of killer photo opportunities, including an electric chair to sit in.
I always love looking through displays of handcrafted weapons.
I thought it was funny that they had an interactive bit for kids where you could write your own ransom note and take your finger prints.
My favourite part was The Art Of The Murder where they had letters and art received from murderers in jail.
This crucifix was crafted from toilet paper, wood and acrylic by a murderer with a life sentence.
It was then time to head to Brighton to meet Dorothy, George and Morty who was the fluffiest, happiest dog ever.
We went for brunch at Pike & Pine in the centre.
I tucked into waffles topped with smoked salmon, a poached egg and prawns. Tom had noodles topped with halloumi.
Dorothy treated us to ice cream at Boho Gelato afterwards.
I had a cone with a scoop of strawberry, basil & balsamic ice cream and lemon meringue ice cream.
We made our way along the pier and the sea was very choppy.
We decided to gamble away our change in the penny falls and ended up winning hundreds of tokens.
With the 500 or so tokens we'd won, we were able to get a Brighton mug each and a bouncy ball for Morty.
We were feeling hungry on the drive home so we decided to check out Boxpark in Croydon.
There were lots of places to choose from but Jenny had recommended that Yo Sushi! do a really go street food menu, so we checked that out.
We tucked into poke bowls and miso corn on the cob.
