      We woke up at Barns Ness this morning. The lighthouse has been turned into a holiday cottage and at first we were disappointed, because we wanted to live in it one day, until we had the idea to rent it for Christmas.

      There were some adorable baby deer by the seaside as we drove off.

      We stopped off in Middlesbrough so we could take Poppy for a ride on the Tees Transporter Bridge.

    The mist got really bad as we headed through the Moors and we could hardly see a few feet in front of us.

    The mist had lifted a little by the time we made it to the seaside where people were running into the cold water.

      It was lunchtime when we arrived in Whitby so we decided to stop off and get some scampi.

      We ordered some scampi and chips from Quayside who have won awards for serving the best scampi and make their own tartare sauce.

      We parked up next to the Abbey which was looking even more gothic than usual in the mist. I could definitely picture Dracula there.

      Some ponies with wet maines next to us looked like they were having a miserable day.

    The fog continued as we made our way back down through the Moors to York and then Leeds, with little to see.

      We were feeling cold and sorry for ourselves after our trip through the rainy moors, so we cheated and treated ourselves to a night at the Malmaison in Leeds.

      It was so nice to see a have bed for the night and our room came with a bottle of wine and dinner included.

      Someone had told me how Adele had demanded to change her room in the Malmaison because it was too stripy. I wondered if I could ask for one without a picture of Trump on the wall.

      We headed down to the Chez Mal for dinner and wine, starting with smoked salmon.

      I then tucked into a gigantic veggie burger while Tom had curried cod.

      We then shared fondue for dessert before falling alseep in our giant comfy bed.
