We stumbled upon a new restaurant which was about to open in Leake Street Tunnel last week, so decided to head along to their Soft Launch tonight with Fiona, one of Tom's old FreeAgent work mates.

The fume-filled graffiti underpass of Leake Street Tunnel is quite a surprising place to find a restaurant, but Banh Boa Brothers are about to open promising delicious boa and Vietnamese food.

Based in an old railway arch, the restaurant fit in well with it's surroundings, filled with beaten up metal tables, graffiti murals and neon signs.

As it was a Soft Launch there was a Tasting Menu to try, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee and waited for the food to arrive.

  6. Edit

First to arrive were lotus root crisps and banh boa buns filled with mushrooms, soy mice, carrot and tofu. They were delicious but there were only two between three of us, so we were unsure how to split them.

Vegetable spring rolls arrived which were really tasty but there was only half a roll per person.

There was a bit of confusion in the kitchen and a 45 minute wait for our next dish but eventually some grilled okra arrived which was delicious.

The main course was a sweet potato and purple yam curry served with rice. It came with a giant bowl of soup with one spoon to share between three of us.

We were sad to find out that they had ran out of the grilled aubergine course which we were looking forward to but the dessert of the day was a matcha macaron style sandwich cookie.
