  1. Checkin at Burnt Toast Cafe
    1. Edit

We went for breakfast at the Burnt Toast Cafe in Brixton Village this morning.

    2. Edit

The cafe is tiny with just a few seats outside, but the queue was long, so we knew it would be good.

There were toasters dotted around so that you could burn your own toast while you waited.

    5. Edit

The food was definitely worth the wait and once we got seated under blankets outside, Tom ordered Eggs Royale served on sweet brioche.

    6. Edit

I had the best French toast I have ever had, made with fig & walnut bread, and topped with berries, butterscotch sauce and honeycomb.

  2. Checkin at Botanique Workshop
    1. Edit

We popped into Botanique Workshop afterwards so I could buy some air plants. It was a super cute shop but the server had no interest in customers and didn't even look up from her computer while serving me.

  3. Edit

We then caught the train to Victoria, passing the Orient Express on our way.

The flower filled streets of Belgravia couldn't have been more different from the graffiti filled railway arches of Brixton we had just left.

  7. Checkin at Dominique Ansel Bakery London
    1. Edit

Though we were still pretty full from breakfast, we couldn't walk past Dominique Ansel Bakery without popping in to share something.

Tom ordered a blossoming hot chocolate, and looked really disappointed when they served an ordinary hot chocolate, until the dropped a marshmallow flower in it which blossomed in front of his eyes.

We tried a Frozen S'more which was chocolate ice cream, coated in toasted marshmallow, on a stick.

  8. Edit

Tom took me along the street to see the house where Mozart composed his first symphony at the age of eight.

  9. Edit

There was a statue of him across the street in Orange Square.

  11. Checkin at Semmalina Children & Babywear
    1. Edit

There was a really cute children's shop called Semmalina across the road and I couldn't resist popping in to take a look. There was an adorable book about Coco Chanel.

  12. Edit

We then wandered down to Chelsea Bridge and along the Thames to Vauxhall.

  15. Checkin at Morpeth Arms
    1. Edit

Tom had read that the Morpeth Arms, a pub across the river from MI6, had a spying room upstairs, so we popped in for a drink.

    3. Edit

The pub was built in 1845 in the grounds of the Millbank Penitentiary, so the guards would have a place to drink.

    4. Edit

The basement is said to be very haunted and they've even got live Ghost Cams that you can watch from upstairs in the bar.

  16. Checkin at Tate Britain
    1. Edit

We had a quick look in the Tate Britain afterwards, which was next door to the pub.

Tom's not a big fan of modern art, so we didn't spend too long in the galleries before heading to the gift shop.

I was quite tempted to treat Bobbin to a Tracey Emin water bowl but I'm not sure if she'd appreciate the reference.

  17. Checkin at Mother Kelly's, Albert Embankment
    1. Edit

We wandered across Vauvxhall Bridge on our way home and stopped at Mother Kelly's for a drink.

    2. Edit

Mother Kelly's is a cool little bar and bottle shop in a railway arch with 33 different beers on tap.

    3. Edit

Tom tried a Not Guilty OJ IPA, while I had wine and tucked into a bread board.
