  1. Checkin at Brixton
    1. Edit

Though we only live just up the road from Brixton, we had never really explored it before this evening.

    2. Edit

There's a memorial to David Bowie down one of the side streets as he was born in Brixton and they're hoping to erect a giant lighting bolt sculpture in the future.

  2. Checkin at OKAN Okonomiyaki
    1. Edit

We went for dinner at Okan, a tiny little Japanese restaurant in Brixton Village.

    2. Edit

It was really cosy inside with the steam from the cooking and light from the lanterns.

We got settled in at a tiny table inside and ordered Japanese beer and an umeshu cocktail.

    5. Edit

I ordered the okonomiyaki with cheese & sweet corn which came topped with dancing bonito flakes.

    6. Edit

Tom had king prawn Yaki Soba which was really tasty too.

  3. Checkin at The Shrub & Shutter
    1. Edit

After dinner, we went for cocktails at Shrub & Shutter, a little bar from the same people behind First Aid Kit in Herne Hill.

    2. Edit

I ordered the Stranger Things cocktail with gin, Chambord, red pepper, plum bitters, rosemary and lemon. It was topped with red pepper leather and glowed blue and red.

    3. Edit

Tom had the Hateful 8 with tequila, solerno, mescal, blood orange, sage and gunpowder bitters.

The barman drew a figure of eight on the table after serving Tom his cocktail and then set it on fire which left an 8 signed into the wood.

  4. Checkin at Ritzy Cinema
    1. Edit

We ended the night with Logan Lucky at The Ritzy, a cute little cinema which is part of the Picturehouse family with a nice bar and cheap popcorn.
