The family heading home early this morning and we were sad to see them go. It was also our 15 year anniversary, so I surprised Tom with card, new Converse and some cute luggage locks for our suitcases.

We then got a text from Amazon saying that the Treasure Truck would be making a stop in Kennington with cheap magnums of champagne.

The truck was parked at the back of St. Mary's church which seemed a little derelict and a strange place for the event, but as soon as we heard booming music, we knew we were in the right place.

We got two magnums of champagne, perfect for New Years Eve, which came with two boxes of Hotel Chocolat chocolates and lots of freebies including more chocolates, stickers, badges, oyster card wallets and pencils.

  3. Checkin at Flavour Bastard

In the evening, we celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Flavour Bastard in Soho.

    2. Edit

Alex & Duncan had recommended it after trying it out during their trip down. The decor reminded me so much of their lovely house in Morningside.

We started with cocktails and I had The Postscript with cachaca, lime, maraschino, green chartreuse, parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, while Tom had Homer’s Negroni.

    5. Edit

The menu sounded amazing and we started with a beetroot salad scented with rose and bergamot topped with magnolia mustard, ricotta and pine nuts.

    6. Edit

We both ordered the miso & mango glazed aubergine next which was delicious and covered in a peanut-buckwheat crumble.

Tom then had the Caribbean-style mussels, which were far too hot for me with jerk spices, rum and scotch bonnet.

    8. Edit

I had the spiced hake which came with three bean stew, curried yoghurt and crispy vermicelli.

    9. Edit

For dessert we had churros, Tom's with clementine marmalade ice cream and mine with apple-cherry sorbet.

Even the bathrooms were lovely and I really liked the copper sinks and tiles.

We popped into the Lego store afterwards to see if there was anything good in the sales and to see the new Star Wars sets.

  5. Checkin at BFI IMAX

We then headed to the BFI IMAX for a midnight screening of The Last Jedi. It was sooooo good and we both really enjoyed it.

  6. Edit

We walked home along the South Bank which was absolutely deserted apart from one little fox who was crossing Westminster Bridge.
