With almost everything done for Christmas, I finally had the chance to relax this morning, so sat back with some rose & cardamom hot chocolate that we'd picked up from Lovecrumbs in Edinburgh and the Christmas special of Nigella.

  2. Edit

I'd 3D printed some cookies cutters to make mini gingerbread houses with my 3D pen and they looked so cute on the side of a mug of hot chocolate.

  3. Edit

I'd got Dad an Isle Of Lewis Chessmen chess set for Christmas which I'd spotted in the museum shop in Edinburgh.

  4. Edit

We played a game of Losing Chess and I lost, which means I won and that was the first time I've ever beaten my Dad.

The family were supposed to leave today but everyone was having so much fun that we convinced them to stay one more night. They went for a look around the Imperial War Museum and then we met up with them for drinks afterwards at The Tankard.

Mum had got Tom a London Underground card game called Mind The Gap for Christmas and we played a few rounds of it at the pub. It was lots of fun and a good way to swot up on the station names.

    3. Edit

Tom got a chance to try out his replacement Figgy hat that Jane had knitted for him since misplacing his first one.

Back at our place, I filled the glass Chelsea teapot that Mum had got me for Christmas with mulled wine. It has a little glass stand with a candle in which kept it warm.

I cooked everyone mulled wine spaghetti bolognese for dinner and then we tucked into a veggie sausage roll wreath.

I'd managed to win a scramble for the last Heston Blumenthal Christmas pudding at the Waitrose in Morningside last Christmas but we had never got around to eating it. Luckily it lasted for over a year, so we finally got to try it tonight topped with champagne and brandy cream which Bobbin was very happy to lick up when we turned our backs.

After dinner, we decided to crack open the Twin Peaks board game that I'd got Mum for Christmas.

  10. Edit

Tom carefully read out the very confusing instructions and we did our best to follow along.

  11. Edit

It was a really cool but tricky game with dream talking, where you had to work out a clue read backwards, building up a pentagram to work out the suspect and an inner and outer circle with playing card suit cards.

Mum insisted that the game would get more use at our place, so we're going to keep it here and have a Twin Peaks party in the new year!
