  1. Checkin at Wightlink Ferry Terminal Portsmouth
    1. Edit

We decided to head out on an adventure to the Isle Of Wight today, as it's somewhere we've never been before.

    2. Edit

We drove out to Portsmouth and then drove Figgy straight onto the Wightlink ferry, which felt more like driving into a carpark than a boat, so it was strange when it started moving.

    4. Edit

We parked up and headed to the top deck to check out the view as we left port.

    5. Edit

We sailed past No Man's Land Fort in the middle of the Solent, an old defence fort now used as a holiday island that I really want to stay on.

    6. Edit

By the time we'd finished our coffee, we had arrived at the Isle Of Wight and jumped bag in Figgy.

  2. Checkin at Ryde, Portsmouth, United Kingdom
    1. Edit

We jumped in Figgy and headed for the seaside town of Ryde. It felt a lot like the rest of England but with slightly out of date shop logos.

  3. Checkin at The Royal Victoria Arcade
    1. Edit

I'd heard about a saucy seaside postcard museum, so we headed along to the Royal Victoria Arcade to check it out.

    2. Edit

All of the signs said it should have been open but it was shut when we arrived.

    3. Edit

We had a look through the antique shops and stamp collecting shops in the arcade instead.

  4. Checkin at Ryde Pier
    1. Edit

One of the real reasons that Tom wanted to come to the Isle Of Wight was because they have 1930s London tube trains that you can ride around the island.

    2. Edit

We walked out to the end of Ryde Pier to the station, which was in the middle of the ocean making it one of the coolest I've ever been too.

The old tracks were rusting away in the middle of the pier and I was so relieved when I spotted the new set behind them.

We made our way into the station and waited at the platform for the tube to arrive, peeking down into the sea in the gaps below the track.

    7. Edit

Eventually we could see the tube making it's way along the pier, and it looked so out of place at the seaside.

The tube was pretty retro looking inside with wood paneling and an old fashioned moquette.

    10. Edit

We rode from one stop, from Ryde Pier to Ryde Esplanade where we'd began and jumped back in Figgy.

  5. Checkin at Bembridge
    1. Edit

We drove through Bembridge, where we discovered the UK's oldest working phone box.

  6. Checkin at The Farm Shop & No. 8 Café
    1. Edit

There was a cute little farm shop across the street and I convinced Tom to let me buy a Brussels sprout stalk to decorate with fairy lights like a Christmas tree.

  7. Checkin at Shanklin
    1. Edit

We then continued along the coast to Sandown and Shanklin.

  8. Checkin at Cowes Floating Bridge
    1. Edit

Back in the north of the island, we took a ride on the floating bridge in Cowes.

  9. Checkin at The Fishbourne
    1. Edit

It was almost time to head home, but we decided to go for dinner at The Fishbourne while we waited for our ferry.

I tucked into scampi and chips with mulled wine.

    4. Edit

There was a super cute cat wearing a bow when we were leaving. Apparently he's not allowed in the pub but he was very friendly.
