  1. Checkin at Little Venice, London
    1. Edit

We started the day by taking the family back to our old London neighbourhood with a walk around Little Venice.

After everywhere I've seen, I still think Little Venice is the most picturesque place in London.

  2. Checkin at Paddington Basin
    1. Edit

We continued along to Paddington Basin, passing by the Alan Turing memorial wall.

    2. Edit

We also crossed over the rolling bridge.

    3. Edit

There's a new floating garden in the middle of the canal that Tom was really excited about seeing.

  3. Checkin at Paddington
    1. Edit

Afterwards, we wandered down into Paddington, padding the window where Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.

    2. Edit

We also crossed paths with a certain local bear.

  4. Checkin at Kensington Palace Gardens
    1. Edit

We wandered down into Kensington Palace Gardens where a Rolls-Royce had been converted into an ice cream truck.

We walked along the Serpentine, where all the ducks were in a row.

    4. Edit

We stopped off at the Peter Pan statue which Mum really wanted to see.

    5. Edit

We loved all the little fairies and squirrels hiding in the base of the statue.

Tom beeped a QR code and then the statue called his phone and started telling him about it's history.

    8. Edit

We continued further into the park where we spotted lots of bright green parakeet flying down from the trees.

    9. Edit

While we were looking up to see what was going on, one flew down and landed on Tom's head.

    10. Edit

Someone handed us an apple to feed them and another man filled my hand with bird seed.

They're a bread of ring-necked parakeet and no-one really knows how they arrived in London or where they came from.

    13. Edit

They're certainly not scared of humans and very friendly, which is apparently quite unusual for the breed.

    14. Edit

I think Mum found the experience of having the birds on her head more painful than the rest of us.

  5. Checkin at Leinster Square Gardens
    1. Edit

On our way out of the park, we passed by 23-24 Leinster Gardens where part of the building has been replaced by dummy houses with a facade to match the rest of the terrace.

It's hard to tell which ones are fake unless you look closely. They've even been used as a filming location in Sherlock.

  6. Checkin at Tiroler Hut Restaurant
    1. Edit

We went for dinner at the Tiroler Hut, an Austrian restaurant with fondue and live yodelling.

    2. Edit

The decor was perfectly themed and the staff dressed in lederhosen. There were lots of photos of celebrities dining at the restaurant on the walls.

The fondue was delicious and, just as we were worried we'd leave disappointed, "The Boss" armed with cow bells and an accordion got up and started singing.
