  1. Checkin at Stonehenge
    1. Edit

We took a road-trip out west today passing by Stonehenge and into Avebury.

    2. Edit

I was on the lookout for the crop circles which had been reported recently.

  2. Checkin at Imber
    1. Edit

Once a year, London Transport have a special day called Imberbus where you can ride a vintage Routemaster to the military ghost town of Imber.

    2. Edit

We headed to Warminster Station to catch our Routemaster and I'd worn my Cath Kidston bus print skirt especially for the occassion.

We set off and the bus made it's way past military checkpoints into a field with "Danger Unexploded Military Debris" signs dotted along the sides of the road.

    6. Edit

The military had been using old tanks for target practise so the fields were a graveyard of burnt out tanks.

We then arrived at Imber, a town which had been evicted for military training during World War 2 and then the residents never returned.

Most of the buildings were bombed out and damaged but the village church still stands in perfect condition in the middle of the town.

It was then time to jump back on the bus and giggle at the ones heading to Brazen Bottom.

We picked up the Fig and actually had to drive him back through the military roads to get to our campsite. We drove him very very carefully.

  3. Checkin at Postern Hill Caravan & Camping Site
    1. Edit

We were spending the night at Postern Hill Campsite just outside Marlborough.

    2. Edit

We set up our tent and then headed back out in the Fig on the hunt for food.

  4. Checkin at Red Lion Avebury
    1. Edit

I'd remembered that the Red Lion was nearby in Avebury. The only pub in the world that's in the middle of a stone circle.

It's also rumoured to have some of the most haunted toilets though I only found them scary because of the spiders.

    4. Edit

My favourite table is the old town well which the Red Lion was built around and now sits in the middle of the pub.

    5. Edit

They've simply covered the well in glass to turn it into a table and you can see all the way down to the bottom where plants are growing.

    6. Edit

I ordered the "Posh Mac N Cheese" which was delicious and made with goats cheese and red onion.

  5. Checkin at Avebury
    1. Edit

We took a walk around the Avebury Stones afterwards and it was sunset which made the stone circle even more magical.

It was then time to head back to our tent and listen to murder podcasts until we fell asleep.
