We took a drive down to Mayfield Lavender Fields in Surrey today.

The fields were gorgeous with rows and rows of purple lavender stretching far into the distance.

The smell was amazing and bumble bees were buzzing around eveywhere as they flew from flower to flower.

We arrived just in time for a thunder storm and sheltered under a tree drinking lavender tea and eating lavender shortbread.

Luckily the rain helped to clear away most of the tourists, so I was able to get some shots of the fields without too many people in. It also brought out the smell of the flowers a lot stronger.

An abandoned red phone box looked so cool in the middle of the purple fields.

We picked up a bunch of lavender to take home and rushed back to the car before the next thunderstorm hit.

Afterwards we went for lunch at Fego in nearby Cobham.

When I read on the menu that they serve coffee in a cone, I had to try one out.

I was a little worried about it melting or having to hold it through my meal but luckily it came in it's own nifty little stand.

I tucked into a plate of Crunchy Nut brioche French toast which came smothered in Nutella and topped with fruit.

We passed through Croydon on our drive home, where a new Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel was having a launch party.

We decided to pop in to see if it would be up to Bobbin's standards and see some of the fluffy guests in their rooms.

We arrived just in time to see the Deputy Mayor of Croydon cut the ribbon and tucked into cat ear cupcakes.

Each room has it's own indoor and outdoor space, a giant cat tree and comfy cat bed. There's also a mini bar where you can order your cat treats from, though Dreamies are always free.

It was purrfect and we made our way home with a goodie bag for Bobbin knowing that she has somewhere nice to stay if we ever go on holiday.
