  1. Checkin at Chinatown
    1. Edit

Holly had the day off and invited me to hang out, so we started off by meeting Tom for lunch in Chinatown.

  2. Checkin at Bubblewrapwaffle
    1. Edit

I'd seen photos of bubblewrap waffles on Instagram and couldn't wait to try one.

    2. Edit

We ordered one with pistachio ice cream topped with strawberry, peanut butter, pecans and KitKat.

    4. Edit

Unfortunately we didn't realise there would be a 45 minute queue, so Tom only managed to take a few bites before he had to rush back to work.

  3. Checkin at London Fire Brigade
    1. Edit

Holly had read about Merge Festival, a cool art event taking place all over Southark, so we headed to a fire station to check out the first exhibition, Drive Dead Slow: Dodgems Of Your Mind by Marcus Lyall.

    2. Edit

We weren't sure what to expect when we were handed personality questionnaires to fill out and talked through the safety rules including "please don't lick the steering wheel".

    3. Edit

We were then shown to a dodgem car which had been matched perfectly to our personalities and said things like "I wonder if there's any prosecco" and "I bet there's not even a guestlist".

    5. Edit

I let Holly drive and we made our way through a tunnel of lights into a room filled with screens of people talking.

    6. Edit

You could stop under each screen to hear what the people above where saying though it was a little hard to hear over the moans and complaints our our dodgem.

    7. Edit

We stopped to read some of the notable personality tests that had made the memo board on our way out.

  4. Checkin at Hilton London Bankside
    1. Edit

The next installation was Confessions by Candy Chang outside the Hilton Hotel.

    3. Edit

People had hung anonymous confessions and you could leave your own in a private voting-style booth.

    4. Edit

My favourite confession that someone had left said "I never sent the money from my Blue Peter Bring and Buy Sale. I spent it on myself".

  5. Checkin at Platform Southwark
    1. Edit

We then made our way to Platform Southwark to see Machine Studies by Patrick Tresset where robots had been set up to illustrate still life drawings.

    3. Edit

Some were clearly much better than others and you could see all their attempts in the gallery.

    4. Edit

Some robots had been set up to draw portraits and you could book yourself in for a free session.

    5. Edit

A classroom had been set up upstairs where you could watch the robots being taught how to draw.

It was so cute seeing them look up to see what the teacher was doing and then looking down at their paper.

  6. Checkin at Dirty Burger
    1. Edit

We met up with Tom after work and Holly treated us to dinner at Dirty Burger in Vauxhall.

    2. Edit

We tried the new veggie beetroot burger with some sweet potato fries and a root beer. It was delicious!

  7. Checkin at Science Museum
    1. Edit

In the evening, we headed to the Science Museum where they were having a robot themed night for their current exhibition.

    3. Edit

We started off by heading to the cocktail bar to pick up a Blue Android cocktail which was dusted with popping candy.

    4. Edit

As though it wasn't cool enough being in the museum at night and drinking cocktails anyway, the museum was filled with robots to meet and play with.

    6. Edit

This super cute little robot purred and said she felt like a cat when we patted her on the head.

    7. Edit

We then got to try out hands at screen printing and made some Robot Take Over posters.

    8. Edit

It was then time for another drinks and this time we had Robotic Rum cocktails served in tin cans.

    10. Edit

We ended the night by making robot heads complete with light up eyes.
