After recovering from the move yesterday, we couldn't wait to head out into the city and check out our new neighbourhood.

  2. Checkin at Albert Embankment
    1. Edit

We're only a 10 minutes walk from Albert Embankment where there was an amazing view over the Thames.

Vauxhall and the MI6 building are to the left and the Houses Of Parliament and London Eye to the right.

    4. Edit

With everything so close, we decided to walk Tom's commute to work and crossed over Lambeth Bridge into Westminster.

  3. Checkin at Houses of Parliament
    1. Edit

Tom has to have one of the most touristy commutes ever. After passing by the London Eye on the Thames we ended up at the Houses Of Parliament at Westminster.

We popped into the gift shop to buy my Nana some House Of Commons prosecco jam.

    4. Edit

I couldn't resist having a look through the Where's Boris book.

  4. Checkin at Horse Guards Parade
    1. Edit

His commute then took us up Whitehall, past Downing Street and to the Horse Guards Parade.

We then past Trafalgar Square and up to Piccadilly Circus.

I had fun window shopping in the expensive arcades of Mayfair.

  7. Checkin at St James's Square

It was then almost time to meet up with our friends so we headed to Southwark.

  9. Checkin at The Cross Bones Graveyard
    1. Edit

We ended up back at Crossbones Graveyard which is one of my favourite spooky sites in the city.

    2. Edit

The site is a graveyard for murdered prostitutes knows as the Winchester Geese and the gates have been decorated with flowers, ribbons and notes of remembrance.

I could spend hours looking through all the notes and trinkets.

  10. Checkin at Call Me Mr Lucky
    1. Edit

We then met up with Jenny, Rin, Mark and Priscilla and headed to Call Me Mr Lucky, a speakeasy I'd read was hidden underneath The Breakfast Club in Borough.

They were very strict with the password (which was "I'm here to get lucky") on the door but after some Googling we found the right one and they led us downstairs, past the kitchen and into a cute little bar which was decorated like Halloween.

    4. Edit

I had a cocktail called Trumps Toupee which came topped with candy floss.

We also tucked into deep fried pickles and poutine while waiting for our dinner reservation to come through.

  11. Checkin at Padella Pasta
    1. Edit

Jenny reads Time Out religiously, so she's always got suggestions for the best new places to eat and Padella was her suggestion tonight.

We knew it was going to be good when we had to queue to make a booking and then return two hours later.

    4. Edit

I had the nettle tagliarini which was topped with an egg yolk. It was cheap and delicious.
