      Though we've lived in Edinburgh for a long time now, we had never been to The Dome before until this evening.

      It was beautiful with a huge stained glass dome, sparkling chandeliers and gorgeous bouquets of flowers on the bar.

      I ordered a Marmalade Fizz, a prosecco cocktail with Grand Marnier orange liqueur and marmalade.

      We then met up with Katie and Phil for dinner at Jamie's Italian.

      Tom had made a reservation with his "gold card" so we were treated to free wine and nibbles when we sat down.

      I had the black truffle ravioli and Tom had mussels.

      Katie and I had espresso martinis for dessert and shared salted caramel gelato topped with praline and toasted hazelnuts.
