It felt so good to be back in London today. It's been almost six years since we lived here, but it still feels like home!

  2. Checkin at Spitalfields
    1. Edit

We started off in Spitalfields where I was on high alert for ghost signs with all the old buildings.

  3. Checkin at Brick Lane
    1. Edit

We then walked down Brick Lane where there was so much graffiti and cool street art to stop and look at.

Tom popped into Rough Trade to have a flip through the records.

    4. Edit

Shoreditch is so hipster that it even has it's own ukulele emporium.

  4. Checkin at Cereal Killer Cafe
    1. Edit

I've been desperate to try the Cereal Killer Cafe ever since it opened, so we popped in for breakfast.

    2. Edit

It's a bit like a tuck shop of cereal where you can order cereal from all over the world in every imaginable flavour.

There was so much to look at from cabinets of old milk bottles and cereal box prizes to retro posters and toys.

    6. Edit

They even had portraits of serial killers made out of cereal on the walls.

    7. Edit

The sunny weather was too nice to ignore, so we took our cereal away to eat in the park. It was packed in cute little boxes with the milk on the side.

    8. Edit

Tom had a bowl of cinnamon bun cereal while I went for the Unicorn Poop cereal cocktail with ricicles, marshmallow fluff, 100's & 1000's and crushed up party rings on top.

We giggled because they wrote poop on the side of my box.

  5. Checkin at God's Own Junkyard
    1. Edit

We then headed up to Walthamstow to visit God's Own Junk Yard.

God's Own Junk Yard is heaven for anyone who loves neon, with thousands of lights in all shapes, sizes and designs.

    4. Edit

It was hard to know where to look and I kept finding neon I wanted more and more as I kept exploring.

When it all got a little too much to look at, we stopped for a drink in their cafe, The Rolling Scones Cafe.

  6. Edit

We took a walk around the City afterwards. I love the way it feels a bit like a zombie movie at the weekends, all deserted and empty with the bankers at home.

  7. Checkin at Leadenhall Market
    1. Edit

We wandered through the gorgeous Leadenhall Market, stopping to admire the hand-painted star ceiling.

  8. Checkin at South Bank London
    1. Edit

We then caught the tube to Waterloo and went for a walk along the Southbank, stopping to take lots of touristy photos.

    3. Edit

I was taking a photo of Tom in front of the London eye when this pigeon flew in a photo-bombed him.

    4. Edit

I've always wanted to go on the London Eye and managed to bag some tickets for CO+K, so we booked our visit for as close to sunset as possible.

  9. Checkin at The Official London Eye
    1. Edit

Originally named the Millennium Wheel after opening in 2000, The London Eye is a must-see attraction when visiting the city.

    2. Edit

Located strategically on the Southbank in between Embankment and Westminster, the 443 feet wheel offers panoramic views over London, making it one of the best and easiest ways to sightsee with a birds eye view.

    4. Edit

The wheel is constantly turning, so you have to board quite quickly, but the ride is smooth once your own and takes around 30 minutes to make a full rotation.

    5. Edit

The pods were a lot bigger than I'd expected and they limited the number of guests in each, giving us plenty of space to move around and check out the view from each side.

    6. Edit

As the wheel begins to move away, you start to rise over the Houses Of Parliament up to Big Ben on your left while the Southbank shrinks away below you on the right.

    8. Edit

Keep an eye out for landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral, BT Tower and The Shard.

    10. Edit

The people and buses below begin to look like toys the higher you get.

    11. Edit

As the wheel reaches the top, you get an amazing 360 degree view of the city and if it's clear, you can see up to 25 miles away.

    12. Edit

The ride was the perfect duration, giving us enough time to admire the view and take all the photos we wanted.

  10. Checkin at The Sun Tavern Bethnal Green
    1. Edit

We then caught the tube up to Bethnal Green and went for a drink at The Sun Tavern while we waited for Claire.

  11. Checkin at Resident of Paradise Row
    1. Edit

Claire took us to Resident of Paradise Row, a cute wine bar in the railway arches at Bethnal Green. Claire was my best friend in Primary School and we've recently reconnected after 20 years.

    2. Edit

I started with a Charred Fig Sour made with sweet figs, fig liqueur, whiskey and egg whites.

    3. Edit

I then had a Portobello Fizz with Portobello Road gin, lemon, thyme, elderflower and bubbles.

  12. Checkin at Satan's Whiskers Cocktail Bar
    1. Edit

Afterwards Claire took us to Satan's Whiskers, a cocktail bar I knew that I was going to love from the name.

    2. Edit

It was so much fun chatting over cocktails though I felt sorry for Tom who struggled to get a word in edgeways as we had so much to catch up on.
