      Brochan is a new gourmet granola and porridge bar in Marchmont and I couldn't wait to check it out.

      I knew it was going to be my kind of place when we arrived and noticed everyone solving crosswords while tucking into their breakfasts.

      I ordered a summer berry granola bowl and Cranachan smoothie. Both were delicious and I clocked a number of other things I wanted to try on the menu, including matcha porridge, that I want to go back for soon.

    We went for a drive afterwards, on the hunt for ghost signs and other interesting things.

      We ended up at The Skylark in Portobello which turned out to be a nice a little gastro pub.

      We were still pretty full from breakfast so we ended up sharing a feta & pumpkin salad and some potato wedges.

      There was an amazing old poster on the wall for the circus and it had a note about the elephants arriving at Waverly Station. I'd have loved to see that.
