    The sweetest thing happened to me last month, I went to bed, put my hand under my pillow and felt a box. Tom had bought me an iWatch and hidden it there for me to find.

  2. Edit

    I have to admit, I wasn't too sure about smart watches and I hated the thought of him spending so much money on me, but I agreed to try it out for a few weeks and, if I didn't like it, he could return it.

    One month later, I'm pretty smitten with it and wanted to share my thoughts, along with all the things I find super helpful, and the things that annoy me.

    In The Kitchen
    ============

    The place I've found my new watch the most helpful is in the kitchen, especially in the heat of the moment when I'm cooking with timers ringing off everyone and no free hands.

    1. Setting A Timer
    ---------------------

    Though Siri sometimes has a tough time understanding my Scottish accent, she's pretty good at understanding numbers, so setting a timer is perfect. Of course, I own a few kitchen timers, but these were bought for cuteness, rather than accuracy and I'm always misplacing things, or forgetting to turn them on. Now I just shout at my wrist and Siri shouts back when the cookies are ready!

    2. Reminding me to refill ingredients
    -----------------------------------------------
    If I use up an ingredient when cooking, rather than having to remember to write it down when I'm back at my desk, I just shout "Add flour to my Food Shopping List" and I can forget all about it. There's not an easy way to check the list on the watch when I'm at the supermarket, but my phone makes a great alternative to a paper shopping list.
