It's not a good idea to watch Nigella's cooking show before going to the supermarket on an empty tummy, but that's exactly what I did last night before coming back with new mixing bowls, cookie cutters and fairy lights for the kitchen.

My new purchases came in handy as I baked a spiced apple and gingerbread bundt cake for Katie & Phil who were coming over later.

It's always a little scary serving people a cake you haven't tried before but my official cake taster approved after little the mixer clean.

Katie & Phil came over for dinner in the evening and I'd baked a giant serving of sweet potato mac n cheese in my new heart shaped Le Creuset dish.

I made them a set of mugs as a Christmas present, Katie's had a kitty cat face on it and said "A nice up of Ka-tea" while Phil's had his beard complete with beard baubles and said "Phil my cup".
