It was Halloween today, so we hurried back to Edinburgh to get ready and stopped off at Mystique Moments in Aberdour.

Tom warmed up next to the fire reading Wiccapedia, while I had a browse and picked up some supplies.

The lady in the shop told me that they were planning on turning down all of the lights, lighting candles and making mulled apple juice later, which inspired me to pick up some star anise to brew my own.

I also got some rose buds, a flower crown, candle, gem to turn into a ring and a wooden pentagram for the dinner table.

Back at home, it was time to carve my pumpkin and I decided to make my own version of Banksy's Cinderella carriage crash using Lego.

In the evening, we headed down to the Grassmarket to watch a bit of the Samhain fire festival and have a drink in the most haunted pub.

Back at our place, I'd prepared a Halloween dinner with pumpkin soup to start, followed by pumpkin gnocchi with a bone bread tear & share and pumpkin pie for dessert.

Tom mixed up some Bloody Marys with pickled onion and olive eyeballs.

I tried a trick with cookie cutters, filling the middle with white chocolate and the outside with dark chocolate, to give the pumpkin pie a candy cane design.

  9. Edit

I spotted this gorgeous sugar skull mask in a window so we decided to make our own sugar cat and sugar bear masks in the evening.
