  1. Checkin at Dismaland Bemusement Park
    1. Edit

After waking up at 5am this morning in Liverpool, Tom drove us down to Weston Super-Mare to go to Dismaland.

We joined the six hour queue and hoped for the best. Luckily the weather was lovely and we had picnic blankets, wine and snacks. So we made the most of it and had a picnic while I taught Jenny to crochet.

    4. Edit

Though Banksy had to make a statement about the ticketing and queuing process not being part of the experience, there were annoying seagull mascots harassing everyone in the queue and really rude staff telling us "here's what you missed", throwing a brochure at us and saying "if you have a brochure, you're not getting in".

    5. Edit

We were getting pretty tense that we wouldn't get in but eventually we made it to the front where a grumpy lollipop lady helped us cross the street into a security room with fake metal detectors.

There was so much to see when we got into the park but I couldn't wait to start with Cinderella's palace.

The palace was in the middle of a moat filled with shopping trolleys, litter and a wonky looking Ariel who appeared normal in the reflection of the water.

We joined a queue to have our photos taken and were told to "smile at the bird" before being shuffled through to the main room by police telling us to "move along" where Cinderella's carriage had crashed and was being snapped by paparazzi.

    12. Edit

We were handed our photo on the way out which was superimposed with us smiling at the crash.

    13. Edit

Tom tried his hardest to topple the anvil at a stall where there were no prizes left, so if you won, you won the anvil.

Jenny treated us to a ride on the big wheel where they rolled their eyes at her after dropping her change and I was told to "move my s***" so they could lock us in.

There was a really good view of the Pocket Money Loans queue from the top.

We bumped into Joe, Sarah and Laura riding a sinister looking carousel afterwards and hugged Jenny goodbye as she had to leave for Bristol.

I wanted to have my portrait drawn by an artist who only draws the back of heads but he had "gone fishing" so I'm not sure he really exists.

    21. Edit

As well as a bemusement park, Dismaland also had an art gallery featuring work by Banksy and other famous artists.

After failing to topple the anvil, Tom decided to try his luck again and win me a fish finger in a bag by hooking a duck.

    24. Edit

Every time he got close, the staff would pick up the duck and chuck it across the pond, make waves or just splash us.

After the End Of Park Show and collecting some free postcards from Pocket Money Loans it was time to leave but not before getting Tom a t-shirt.
