After waking up in Liverpool this morning, Jenny offered to be our tour guide and show us around the city, so we jumped in the Fig and headed downtown.

There was lots to spot on the way including a bombed out church and the strange modern architecture of the new cathedral.

  4. Checkin at The Pen Factory
    1. Edit

It's not a good idea to explore on an empty tummy, so our first stop was to meet Dave for brunch at the Pen Factory.

Tom and I tucked into a giant platter of pickles, cheese, bread and amazing vegetarian sausage rolls.

Afterwards Jenny took us to see a strange pyramid in a graveyard nearby which she told us was the grave of a gambler and that he's sat at a table inside holding a winning hand.

We spotted a cat riding a dragon in an antique store and stopped to pet it.

Jenny really wanted this Japanese money box of The Beatles from the 60s.

  8. Checkin at Grand Central Hall

Next up we went shopping in Grand Central which was a Camden Market style place with lots of quirky clothes, second hand shops and an awesome magic shop which was closed.

Tom tried on some clothes and was convinced that this must be where The Beatles buy their clothes.

  9. Checkin at Mathews Street, Liverpool
    1. Edit

The Beatles are pretty hard to avoid in Liverpool but Mathews Street, home to the Cavern Club, is filled with statues and memorials.

The strangest statue of all had to be the one of Death holding The Beatles as babies.

  10. Checkin at Albert Dock
    1. Edit

We then headed down to Albert Dock to admire the nautical buildings where Tom was excited to see the office of Cunard.

  11. Checkin at Museum of Liverpool
    1. Edit

I was able to collect some squished pennies in the Museum Of Liverpool while Tom checked out one of the earliest electric railways.

  12. Edit

While we were walking along the docks, two tuck tucks drove past with a hen party doing karaoke. I really want to come back and do tuck tuck karaoke at some point!

We were all pretty tired after walking all over town, so after picking up some veggie meat ingredients in Chinatown, we headed back to Jenny & Dave's for amazing corn crust pizzas, gin and board games.
