After waking up in Newcastle this morning, we headed to the Butterfly Cabinet for breakfast.
It was really pretty inside and I really liked being able to make my own vegetarian fry-up breakfast with all the things I like. Queue a mountain of baked beans!
All fueled up for the day, we made our way doon the toon!
We were just in time to watch the Millennium Bridge rotate, so we parked up next to the shore and watched.
It was pretty cool to see and I loved watching everyone run to make it over in time, so they didn't have to wait for it to go back down.
I couldn't help but notice how many pigeons and seagulls there were on the ledges of the buildings.
Tom let me nip into the Discover Museum to get a squished penny for my collection but the machine gave me the wrong one. Next time, I'll get the right one!
Rob had been away from Newcastle visiting his family and had just arrived back, so we picked him up at the station and headed for lunch at The Cluny.
It was so nice to catch up with Rob and we popped into the farm next door quickly to meet the animals afterwards.
After dropping Rob off at his house, it was time to leave Newcastle (which was trickier than it sounded with lots of one way streets) and head back home.
We passed by so many castles.
We decided to stop off at Lindisfarne and drive across to Holy Island on the way home, just because it would be fun to pretend that Figgy was a boat.
The sea was still covering parts of the road when we arrived so we parked up and watched as bigger cars and trucks risked a crossing. It looked a bit dangerous at some points but none of the SUVs were washed away... unfortunately.
Everything was closed when we arrived,so we didn't get to buy any mead but the island was filled with pretty flowers and really tame birds.
We had a quick walk around, looked in the grounds of The Abbey and then headed back to the mainland.
We're back home in Scotland now and thinking about where to head for our next trip. Any suggestions?
