It was Dad's birthday today and one of his favourite things is Dim Sum, so we decided to throw him a surprise Dim Sum party at our house.

Being outnumbered by vegetarians, my Dad doesn't usually get to order the meaty things he likes at Dim Sum so I'd attempted to make all of his favourite dishes vegetarian friendly including Quorn pork buns and pork & prawn dumplings.

We made a menu so he could tick the dishes he wanted to try, just like at real Dim Sum and though he said he wanted to try everything filled up half way through.

My favourite Dim Sum treat is a warm plate of egg custard tarts, which aren't always available, so I marked that they were only available some days on the menu just incase mine didn't turn out. Luckily they did and they were just as delicious as the ones we get at the restaurant.

Dad's other favourite thing is bacon and maple syrup so I baked him a French toast cake topped with maple syrup frosting and candied Quorn bacon. It tasted exactly like French toast!
