My parents are always trying to lure us back to Fife for a visit but this week they didn't have to ask twice with the prospect of feeding baby lambs.

It was the perfect, sunny, warm spring day for a trip to the countryside and we had the roof down on Fig as we made our way to Burntisland.

I'd baked a cherry & rose gin loaf to give to Nana so we stopped off to see her first for a slice and cup of coffee.

Our first stop was a farm in Burntisland where some newborn lambs, who had been born a few hours before, were needing fed.

They were so small and you could feel their hearts beating so strongly while we held them.

After the lambs had drank as much milk as they could, we headed out to the fields to see the other lambs and cows who were happily munching away in the sun.

The piglets were given some carrots to eat, so I thought I would sneak in and take some photos of them while they were distracted, but they ended up being far more interested in me than their food.

The farm was on top of the Bin so there was an amazing view over Burntisland.

Afterwards we headed up to Dundee and we were feeling super hungry by the time we arrived, so decided to try Project Pie, a hipster new pizza joint.

The concept was a little like Subway, where you could order as many toppings and they'd customise it just how you liked for a set price. They also had an amazing dough squisher, soda machine with root beer and free refills and really really friendly staff.

We ordered a pizza with gorgonzola, feta, olives, mushrooms and all the other toppings we liked. It was really tasty, especially the garlic oil and tomato base.

Kirsty had told us to check out a cool new tea room and bookshop called Madigan's Food Emporium which sounded like my Mum's dream place.

The cafe was really cosy with books and annuals pilled high around the tables. There was an annual for everyone and we all sat quietly reading (and giggling) while drinking our tea.
