  1. Checkin at Kielder Observatory
    1. Edit

Tom had been reading about the darkest places in the UK and found out that Kielder Observatory was having a stargazing night. It was a couple of hours drive away from Edinburgh but we booked places and headed along after work.

The observatory was in an arty new wooden building and felt so cosy inside with a wood burning stove and red lights to stop our eyes from adjusitng to the light.

There were two telescopes and we took turns to look at the moon, Jupiter and the Orion Nebula.

We headed outside to do some stargazing afterwards and the guides had laser pointers which they could point into the sky to show us which star was which. It was very cold but we got to have hot chocolate in front of the fire afterwards.
