Tom and I were invited on a tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia to review for a guide on the most Christmassy days out for the attractiontix blog.

We were each handed audio guides which looked like giant retro mobile phones as we made our way on board and began the tour.

The tour began on the top deck where we got to explore the bridge, look at shiny equipment and pretend to be the captain.

We then made our way along the deck, passing by the Queen's Rolls Royce which had to have it's bumpers removed to fit onto the yacht.

The Royal Quarters were simple but cozy and we were surprised to see that the Queen and Prince Philip had individual rooms with single beds.

The highlight of our tour was tea and cake in the gorgeous glass tearoom with views over the water. I had lemon drizzle cake which was made in the yacht's galley and the cappuccinos came dusted with cocoa Britannia's.

After tea, we headed down into the yacht to see the formal dining rooms, lounges and offices.

The most fun was to be had down in the crew's quarters where you could dress up in sailor uniforms and pretend to pull a pint in the officer's mess.

Though the tour wasn't a traditional Christmas activity, afternoon tea onboard would make a great gift for a friend.
