  1. Checkin at Rogart railway station
    1. Edit

After waking up in our cosy rail carriage at Sleeperzzz, it was time to jump in the Fig and head further north than we'd ever been in Scotland.

  2. Checkin at Whaligoe, Highland, United Kingdom
    1. Edit

We stopped off in Whaligoe, which was our Nothing To See Here book, where you can take 365 steps down to a tiny harbour.

  3. Checkin at Ebenezer Place, Wick
    1. Edit

We also passed by Ebenezer Place in Wick which is only 2.06 meters long and is the world's shortest street.

  4. Checkin at John o' Groats
    1. Edit

Eventually we made it to John O'Groats, somewhere we've wanted to tick off since visiting Lands End. The actual place was just as dull and touristy as Lands End but we were happy to get our photo with the sign.

    3. Edit

There wasn't much to see but we did buy an awesome patch. We've decided to collect patches everytime we go somewhere exciting and cover a suitcase in them.

  5. Checkin at Dunnet Head, Lighthouse/viewpoint
    1. Edit

I'd always thought John O'Groats was as the very top of Scotland because of the sign, but the nearby Dunnet Head is actually the most northern point.

    2. Edit

It was actually a much nicer place too with a lighthouse and far fewer tourists.

We could see all the way over to Orkney and one day, I'm sure we'll make it over there too.

  6. Checkin at Thurso East
    1. Edit

We continued our journey along the coast to Thurso where we passed the Google street view car, which means they'll have a lovely shot of the Fig driving up there one day.

  7. Edit

The weather started to turn a little ominous, so we decided to make our way back south.

  8. Checkin at Dornoch Castle Hotel
    1. Edit

We swung by Dornoch Castle so I could take a photo. It was their last day of the season, so I'm glad we didn't put our trip off any later.

  9. Edit

Nearby was a super cool abandoned gas station complete with retro rusting pumps.

  11. Checkin at Loch Fleet
    1. Edit

The owner at Sleeperz had told that you can often see seals at Loch Fleet, so we headed there just before sunset to see if we could spot any.

We stood and watched them swimming and jumping for a while before heading back to our train carriage for the night.
