  1. Checkin at The Horn Milk Bar
    1. Edit

I won Millennium's Photography Workshop last month and the prize was a night stay at any of their hotels in the UK. We've been wanting to explore the north of Scotland so we picked a night in Aberdeen and set off this morning.

Our first stop was The Horn Milk Bar which I'd read about in the Nothing To See Here book that Kenny gave us. It looked like a crazy American diner with giant sculptures and cosy booths but it was your typical Scottish cafe serving biscuits and fried food.

  2. Checkin at Storybook Glenn Aberdeen
    1. Edit

I had vague memories of visiting Storybook Glen when I was little and as it was only £2.75 to visit, we decided to stop off and check it out.

    2. Edit

The glen was filled with hundreds of sculptures from nursery rhymes, gnomes, castles and little houses hidden absolutely everywhere.

    3. Edit

Some sculptures were a little more sinister looking, making us think it could be an amazing place to shoot a horror film.

    4. Edit

There were lots of modern day sculptures too, meaning that someone must have been busy carving since my last visit.

    5. Edit

My favourite sculpture was the princess carriage. I tried to race a couple of toddlers to it, but they beat me and I had to wait my turn.

  3. Checkin at Footdee
    1. Edit

We made our way in to Aberdeen afterwards and headed down to Footdee, a few streets filled with fishermans cottages which have all been decorated in kitsch and cute ways by their owners.

    2. Edit

We'd visited the last time we were here but completely missed the few streets with cute houses.

  4. Checkin at Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen

It was then time to check in to our room at The Copthrone where we found a bottle of wine and lovely note from the manager waiting for us.

After getting settled in and drinking our wine, we were hungry and headed out in to the city to grab dinner. Little did we know, everywhere in Aberdeen seems to be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

  5. Checkin at unknown place
    1. Edit

Feel defeated, we knew cocktails would make everything better and headed to The Tippling House, a super cute hipster bar that was too busy to try on our last visit.

    2. Edit

Luckily, they also served food and we ordered a delicious seafood platter with chowder, po boys, fish tacos and crab wontons.

  6. Checkin at Ninety-Nine Bar & Kitchen
    1. Edit

It was then time to meet up with Keava & Rosa, so we headed to the Ninety-Nine Bar & Kitchen.

I liked the way it felt like someones living room with everyone sitting around the edges. The cocktail menu was inside a record sleeve and I ordered The Great Mouse Decective which tasted herby and delicious.

  7. Checkin at 6 Degrees North
    1. Edit

We ended the night with fruity beers at 6 Degrees North, which Tom has decided is his favourite place ever.
