  1. Checkin at The Bluebell Woods
    1. Edit

My Dad got us tickets for a mushroom foraging walk in Balquhidderock Wood in Stirling today which is something that's been on my someday list for a while.

We'd were assured that none of them are poisonous to touch so we were afraid to get stuck in, pulling up any we could find.

  3. Edit

I was impressed by the huge variety we were able to find after just a few minutes in the woods.

  4. Edit

We were given guides to help us identify the species but there are so many types that some were impossible to name.

  5. Edit

This mushroom produces milk when it's squished. Our guide was brave enough to try some but warned that some types of mushroom milk are hot like tabasco.

Tom won the prize for the strangest mushroom find with this stinkhorn. Our guide decided to hold on to it and true it's name, the smell became unbearable after a while and started attracting flies.

  8. Edit

Though we left the woods still unsure of which mushrooms were safe to eat or not, it was a lovely walk with so much to discover.

We were feeling really hungry after our walk so we headed into Stirling to find something to eat.

  11. Checkin at The River House Restaurant, Stirling
    1. Edit

We went for dinner at the River House restaurant where I had mushroom fritters (inspired be our foraging), sweet potato & sage risotto and a French Martini.

Tom had fishcakes and sea bass. He though it was funny that I ate mushrooms after spending the whole day with them, like when people eat meat at the zoo.

  12. Checkin at The Kelpies
    1. Edit

We stopped off to see The Kelpies on the way home as we were just in time for sunset.

The looked amazing with the sun setting behind them and lit up as it began to get dark.

    4. Edit

There was a pop up shop at the marina where we got ice cream. The turkish delight ice cream was amazing with lovely a strong rose flavour.
