Tonight was the firework display for the Forth Road Bridge's 50th birthday so we headed along to South Queensferry to see them.

There was a procession across the bridge at sunset with other 2000 people carrying lanterns to create the look of a killometer long river of fire.

We shared a bottle of wine at the Hawes Inn while we waited for the fireworks to start. The biker bar next door kept us entertainment with super poppy biker music.

We'd heard that everywhere was going to be closed to the public so I hadn't been expecting to see very much but we headed out on to the pier as the fireworks began which gave us the perfect view.

The display was amazing, stretching the full length of the bridge lighting up the entire sky. We loved the silhouettes of the boats down in the sea below. Everyone around us sounded equally as impressed.

I didn't realise it until I looked back at my photos but some of the fireworks burst into the number 50 in the sky.
