After waking up in our cozy gypsy caravan, we were in the mood to explore the area a little and started with coffee at the Main Street Trading Company bookstore.

Our first stop was Kelso which had a giant castle and stones with words like Freedom carved into them in the town centre.

We spotted a sign for berry picking at Borders Borders and I was excited, as berry picking has been on my bucket list for ages.

Though it was a little late in the season, there were still lots and lots of ripe raspberries and some red & black currants to pick.

We spotted a bunny at one point and Tom tested his strength by pulling up potatoes.

It was lots of fun picking the berries and we ended up with a giant punnet which only cost a couple of pounds.

My Dad had told me to look out for a gargoyle of a pig playing the bagpipes at Melrose Abbey.

All of the gargoyles were pretty funny looking, and just as we're were about to give up, we spotted the pig.

When we returned to Fig, we discovered these two tourists sitting on him while having their photo taken by a passer by and then taking turns at having their photo taken with him. I wonder if they'll notice us taking a photo of them in the background of this photo.
