My birthday started super early this year with a midnight party with my parents, as we wouldn't be seeing them in the morning. My Mum had baked me a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing which was covered in pretty decorations.

Tom gave me a polarizing filter for my camera, the prettiest set of make-up brushes and Vera Wang's Princess perfume which I'd scrapbooked photos of the bottle of a million times. Mum & Dad got me an amazing picnic basket which has it's own inbuilt cool box and the prettied red polka dot lining.

However, the best present was a token for a kitten which we will get as soon as the landlady gets back to our request. I've got all of my fingers and toes crossed that she says yes...

Tom had made a surprise reservation for afternoon tea at Prestonfield House.

It's one of the prettiest places I've ever been to in Edinburgh with extravagnt rooms, quirky decor and peacocks on the lawn. Tom took a photosphere photo of the room so you can explore it.

The afternoon tea was delicious with macaroons and other treats.

After we'd eaten as much food and drank as much tea as we could handle, we jumped in our Fig and headed down to the Borders.

We passed Leaderfoot Viaduct on the drive and stopped to take in the view.

  8. Checkin at Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary

We also passed by a donkey sanctuary and for a moment, I thought they had a donkey statue next to their sign until I saw it's ear move. They do walks on the weekend and I'd love to come back to go on one.

As a special birthday treat, Tom had booked us a two night stay in a gypsy caravan at Roulotte Retreat which felt like it had come straight out of Pinterest.

When we arrived there was a goose in the car park quacking at the cars. The owner told us that he's their parking attendant.

We were staying in a peacock inspired caravan which was painted blue, green and purple and was so pretty inside. There was a wood-burning stove, little kitchen to cook in and super comfy bed.

I'd packed the picnic hamper full of treats, so we had a picnic with ravioli, garlic bread and prosecco on our deck.

We were glad that it stayed warm enough to sit out as it went dark but sadly it didn't get dark enough to see the stars, giving us the perfect excuse to come back for another stay during the winter.
