Today was Tom's birthday and I had a day of transport-themed surprises planned for him, starting with a homemade Figaro card and Figaro birthday cake.

    1. Edit

As we'd woken up at our hotel in Glasgow, we decided to grab breakfast somewhere new before travelling home.

    2. Edit

We ended up at Cafezique in the West End where we shared a gigantic vegetarian breakfast.

We then jumped in the fig-mobile and headed back through to Edinburgh in time for my parents coming through to celebrate.

  4. Checkin at World Of Bowling
    1. Edit

I'd planned a surprise game of bowling, so I directed Tom to a secret location where my parents were waiting ready to play.

After two games, it was time to head home and shower the birthday boy with presents, cards and cake.

I got him a Nanoblock shinkansen set (which Jenny had kindly brought back from Japan in her hand luggage), a Harris tweed wallet and document wallet and an I.O.U for the Moto 360 watch from Google when it comes out. My parents had got him a shaver, Rilakumma bear, Lego moleskin and some Pekoe tea.

There was just enough time for Tom to blow out his candles before we had to rush off to make our dinner reservations at Pizza Express.

  9. Checkin at PizzaExpress
    1. Edit

Every year, Pizza Express send Tom and I a voucher each for a bottle of prosecco so it's become our new tradition to go there late at night for pizza and drink two bottles with my parents.

    2. Edit

The restaurant was empty, so it was like we'd booked the whole place out for a private-dining experience.
