  1. Checkin at North Berwick
    1. Edit

The start of the week was really stormy so we took today's sunny weather as an excuse to head out in the car for a trip to North Berwick.

  2. Edit

We haven't spent much time exploring North Berwick before today but it felt really similar to Salem, Massachusettes for some reason.

  4. Checkin at Steampunk Coffee
    1. Edit

We'd heard good things about Steampunk Coffee, so we decided to give it a try. The way the staff were dressed mixed with the decor and drinks in mason jars reminded me of the film Lawless.

We tried a savoury scone with blue cheese, chive and apple and a granola bar which were both delicious. The coffee was really good too and they were kind, attempting to make me an iced coffee when they hadn't ever made one before.

Back on the beach, we popped in to see the adorable lobsters in their hatchery.

We tried to spot some seals offshore but we only managed to spot sea birds. I'd love to take the ferry out to the Bass Rock at some point.

  7. Checkin at The Roamin' Nose
    1. Edit

We headed back to Edinburgh and stopped in to The Roamin Nose for a drink, which had a collection of Bill Murray portraits on the walls.

    2. Edit

We tried their bread board which were served with the most delicious pestos and tapenade I've ever tasted. We didn't have time to stay for anything else but when their pesto tasted this good, I'd love to come back for dinner sometime.

  8. Checkin at King George V Park
    1. Edit

Scotland Street Tunnel was being opened for one night only, so we headed along to take a peek inside. Everyone was gathered outside with their cameras and torches when we arrived.

    2. Edit

It was cold inside and I couldn't believe how much the temperature dropped as soon as you entered the tunnel. Once the gate was opened, some people ran ahead and had disapeared in to the darkness when the guides shouted not to go too far

We had to step over lots of broken boards, twisted gates and rubble to make our way in to the tunnel. The path smoothed out after the initial entrance but there were lots of potholes and things dangling from the ceiling to watch out for, so I was glad we brought a torch.

    5. Edit

A little later on, two shadowy figures appeared in the tunnel and they turned out to be Gary and Gemma. Together, we ventured in to the tunnel as far as we could until our shoes started to sink in to the mud. If we'd kept going, we would have ended up at Waverley Station.

  9. Checkin at The Espy
    1. Edit

It was still sunny and warm when we eventually emerged outside, so we decided to make the most of the lovely evening and head to Portobello Beach.

We'd heard good things about The Espy and, as we were with Edinburgh's most influential food bloggers, we decided to give it a shot!

    4. Edit

I ordered the beetroot and goats cheese salad which was gigantic but the cheese was a little runny and didn't taste great. Tom had some nachos were just okay and Gemma & Gary didn't seem too impressed with their meals either.
