Tom and I were invited to Millenium's Glasgow Photography Workshop today which was taking place as part of the Commonwealth Games #toastofthetown campaign.

The workshop was held at the Millennium Hotel which was conveniently located at the station and they'd laid out some delicious tablet muffins and coffee for our arrival. It was lovely getting the chance to meet other bloggers and a number had also travelled through from Edinburgh.

We were being taught by Stuart from Dreghorn Photography Studio, who was really patient and helpful while getting everyone's camera set up and we found a bunch of new functions on my camera that I didn't know existed.

After being grouped up by camera types, we were set loose in the hotel to take a few interesting portraits of each other for our first challenge. For some reason, I didn't think my classic shots of Tom pretending to eat and squish things were going to cut it.

We were then taught the importance of shutter speed with the assistance of a toy helicopter and now I'm going to be so prepared to take great photos if we ever get a kitten!

A Scottish inspired lunch was served in the bistro which was another chance to chat to the other bloggers while tucking in to tasty haggis bonbons, salmon and vegetable parcels.

After lunch, we were separated in to two groups and headed out in to the city to take some street photography. It felt a bit like being on a school trip and we had to be careful not to get lost when we were wandering off taking shots.

Everyone felt a little awkward taking photos of strangers but I've learned a sneaky technique where I look above the head of someone I want to take a photo of so they think I'm snapping something above them.

At the end of the workshop we were handed goody bags with camera cleaning kits, Glasgow mugs and other treats. I can't wait to try out some of the things I've learned with my camera and I'll try my best to stop using it in Auto-mode.

Back in Edinburgh, we treated ourselves to dinner at Sushiya where we had a king prawn tempura and rainbow roll.

Spending two days without driving the new car was too much for Tom, so later in the evening, we drove out to Krispy Kreme for some coffee and donuts.

We felt a little like cops staking out the donut shop with our coffee and we felt very restrained by only ordering 3 donuts instead of the giant box we usually take away with us. The praline crunch is my favourite!
