  1. Checkin at London King's Cross Station
    1. Edit

We decided to take a last minute trip to London this morning, as we'd built up quite a few things to do down there and Raz was getting married, so it was the perfect excuse for a quick holiday. Even though we haven't been in the city for over a year, it felt like we had never even left as soon as we jumped off the train.

  2. Checkin at Laurence King Publishing Ltd
    1. Edit

Our first errand was to drop off some craft projects with our publisher, Laurence King in Angel so that they can shoot them for the cover of our book. We got to see a mock up of the design and it looked really good.

  3. Checkin at EasyHotel Old St / Barbican
    1. Edit

We then checked in to the Easy Hotel on Old Street. We had a window this time but no WIFI so we had to go back to the old fashion way of entertaining ourselves with shadow puppets at bedtime.

After unpacking our things, we walked down to Covent Garden for a little bit of shopping. Though it didn't feel like any time had past since our last visit, a lot of the shops had changed and we kept finding things we went to had disappeared.

  6. Checkin at Timberyard Seven Dials
    1. Edit

We stopped at a new London coffee chain called Timberyard in Seven Dials which was super hipster with tables made from suitcases, dangling lightbulbs and chairs made from old bus seats.

    2. Edit

I ordered an ice coffee, which was delicious and exactly what I needed to help me cool down. I couldn't believe how much hotter the weather was down here compared to back in Scotland.

  7. Checkin at Jamie Oliver's Diner
    1. Edit

In the evening, we met up with Ben, Mel & Dave and went for dinner at Jamie Oliver's Diner, which is a pop-up restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue.

    2. Edit

We remembered that this place used to be an old steak restaurant and from the look of the decor, they hadn't changed a thing and we even had a giant rip in our booth. I know it's hipster for things to look a little rough around the edges but this was taking it too far.

    3. Edit

Aside from the decor and our terrified waiter who spoke very quietly and looked like he wanted to hide under the table while taking our order, it was so much fun catching up with everyone.

    4. Edit

Tom ordered a veggie burger and I had mac n cheese topped with popcorn and a side of sweet potato fries. They were pretty good but the food didn't blow us away, considering it was Jamie Oliver and it was pretty pricey for diner grub.

  8. Checkin at Mele E Pere, Soho
    1. Edit

We headed in to Soho afterwards in search of cocktails and ended up at a vermouth bar called Mele E Pere.

    2. Edit

I tried A Veneton Mess which was made from "sweet strawberry vermouth, limoncello and cassis over crushed ice" and it was delicious.

  9. Edit

There was a lot of smoke in the air on our way home and it turned out to be a gas explosion on Piccadilly. It was crazy to watch as it kept popping with loud bangs and huge flames.
