When Google held their party at the Camera Obscura a couple of months ago, it was nighttime and too dark to see the actual camera, so they invited us back to see it during the day.
The camera show was really good and it was fun hearing about Edinburgh's gory past but we weren't allowed to take photos as it would ruin the light.
The view from the top of the tower was amazing and we could see all the way across the Firth Of Forth to my Nana's house in Burntisland through the binoculars.
The exhibits hadn't changed much since our last visit but we had a quick spin around them, stopping in to the Ames room and Vortex before heading off in to the city.
We'd been hearing lots of good things about Filiament Coffee, a new coffee shop on Victoria Street and were keen to check it out. It was very spacious inside and decked out in hipster furniture.
I had a mint tea and we tried a millionaire shortbread truffle and rose & pistachio cookie which were delicious.
It reminded me a lot of the cafes in Berlin, minus the smoking, and I'm sure we'll be back. It feels like the perfect place to hang out late at night.
I'm not sure when people started rubbing Greyfriars Bobby's nose for luck but he does look even cuter these days.
We were still feeling adventurous and not quite ready to go home, so we decided to go for an early dinner at Frontier, an American-style diner which has opened on Gillespie Place that Laura told us about.
The decor was more like a Mexican cantina than a diner but they staff were super friendly and served us a mug of corn chips when we sat down and some peanut butter & jelly fudge with our bill, which felt like authentic American touches.
I had big hopes for fried pickles, veggie burgers and all the things I miss from America but the menu was a little light on vegetarian options, though they did serve a veggie hot dog which wasn't listed.
Tom tried the hot dog while I settled for some sweet potato fries and a salted caramel & pretzel milkshake. Though we probably won't go back for dinner anytime soon (as it's a little too meat heavy), I could be tempted by breakfast as their cotton candy pancakes sound delicious!
