  1. Checkin at Yodobashi-Akiba Megastore
    1. Edit

We decided to spend this morning shopping as our hotel is near Akihabara which is known as Tokyo's Electric City because of all the electronic shops and arcades in the area.

We made our way to Yodobashi, a massive electronic store with nine floors, selling every kind of gadget imaginable. Though I really wanted to run off on my own and look for goodies, I was a little scared of getting lost because the store was so huge.

    4. Edit

My favourite floor was the camera department which was filled with cameras, accessories and giant lenses. I was able to take a perfect photo of Tom from the opposite side of the building using one of the cameras.

I picked up a bunch of useful accessories such as lens caps with strings so they don't get lost and lens filters which turn photos soft focus, add crosses to lights and pull out a center focus. I also got a super tiny camera necklace which actually takes photos.

Tom treated himself to the cutest train magazine ever, some Shinkansen chopsticks and I got a copy of FRUiTS magazine.

    8. Edit

When we were tired of shopping, we treated ourselves to lunch on the top floor where you can order your food through a vending machine.

    9. Edit

Considering we didn't speak to anyone while placing our order, I wasn't expecting that much from the food but when our ramen and gyoza arrived, it looked amazing and tasted delicious.

  2. Checkin at Mandarake, Akihabara

Our shopping continued after lunch when we headed to Mandarake, a seven floor store filled with manga, collectibles and toys.

Tom found an adorable miniature Figaro car which he thought we should get to play with while we save up for the real thing.

We then visited the Kanda Shrine which is famous for blessing tech and tech companies. We treated ourselves to some lucky charms which you stick to your phone, computer and wallet to bring you success.

  4. Checkin at VAMPIRE CAFE
    1. Edit

In the evening, we had reservation at the Vampire Cafe, which was hidden away on an anonymous floor of a building in Ginza. We weren't sure we had the right place until the elevator doors opened on to a candle lit room with a screaming skeleton.

    2. Edit

We were shown to a candle lit table secluded away behind a red velvet curtain by our waitress who was dressed as a maid and had fangs.

    3. Edit

Our food was also vampire themed and we tucked in to a salmon roll shaped like a cross and a salad topped with blue cheese and bats. Our cocktails were filled with flowers and Tom's one was glowing red when it arrived.

We treated ourselves to a tower of cakes for dessert which was literally unveiled after it was placed on our table.

After dinner, we took a walk around Ginza where we found an amazing alley filled with tiny restaurants which looked really good, so we’re going to come back tomorrow for lunch.
