We couldn't wait to get out and explore more of Amsterdam today.

  2. Checkin at Piqniq
    1. Edit

We stopped for lunch at Piqniq, an adorable little cafe with decor that looks like picnic tables and benches with tulips everywhere.

The menus is made up from small dishes so you can try a selection. We tucked in to a mini cream cheese bagel, ciabatta with mozzarella and pesto and a super tasty mini quiche.

I loved the way that barges on the canal were being used for all kinds of things like houses, cafes and play parks.

  5. Checkin at De Poezenboot
    1. Edit

One of the coolest uses for a barge was De Poezenboot, a floating cat sanctuary where you can go and pet kitties while they lounge on the deck watching ducks swim by.

    2. Edit

The kitties were so cute and it was great to see people adopting them.

This particular cat seemed to be ruling the boat.

We then headed to the center of the city and ended up in the Red Light District which was just like a bigger and more touristy version of the alleys in Soho.

Next up was the Flower Market where Tom bought me a wooden tulip and we found a squished penny.

  9. Checkin at Kattenkabinet

One of the places I was looking forward to visiting the most was the Kattenkabinet, a museum dedicated entirely to cat art.

Though the museum featured a Picasso and Rembrandt, our favourite exhibits were the cats which were snoozing around the rooms.

We then went to De Carrousel for pancakes, a restaurant built around an old carousel.

We ordered a cointreau soaked pancakes which was really boozy.

  11. Checkin at Vondelpark

We ended up in Vondelpark which was really pretty. I can imagine Amsterdam would be a really relaxing place to hang out in the summer.

  12. Checkin at 't Blauwe Theehuis
    1. Edit

There was a cool cafe called 't Blauwe Theehuis in the middle which was built in the 1930's a looked like a UFO.

    2. Edit

We stopped off for a drink and watched the pretty lights come to life as it got dark.

  13. Checkin at Yam Yam Trattoria Pizzeria
    1. Edit

We went for dinner at a pizzeria called Yam Yam which means yum yum in Dutch. Though I'd read that the Dutch aren't famous for having a great cuisine, we reckoned you couldn't go wrong with a good pizza.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived so we were surprised when the waiter had to check though his list to see if there was a free table, but as the night went on, the place soon filled up.

    4. Edit

We tucked in to delicious rosemary potatoes and a pizza topped with tuna and capers.

  14. Edit

Feeling happy and full we took a walk through the city, passing by Anne Frank's house on the way to our hotel.

It started raining really heavily by the time we got back to our hotel and we weren't ready for bed yet, so we headed down to the bar for cocktails. Luckily it had an amazing view, delicious cocktails and free nuts!
