We woke up in Ukiah, California this morning and headed to Black Oak Coffee to perk ourselves up with pastries and a lavender latte, which tasted amazing.
We passed by a tree stump in the town which used to be a gas station until it closed and reopened as a museum.
We then headed in to the famous Californian Redwoods which was one of the most beautiful and picturesque drives ever.
We stopped off at the Drive-Through Tree Park to drive through the Chandelier Tree. It was fun waiting for our turn in the queue as the trucks ahead struggled to fit.
Tom was feeling the pressure when all of the tourists who had been unsuccessful formed a crowd to take photos of our car as it went through.
Luckily, we made it without even a small scuff to the rental, including the two additional times I asked Tom to drive through so I could take photos.
Back on the road, we crossed the state line in to Oregon, where we kept an eye out for Bigfoot.
We took a scenic detour through one of the state parks and almost as soon as we spotted a sign alerting us of deer, we passed by a huge field of them.
We pulled off to the side of the road to take photos when all the deer suddenly decided they were going to cross the road and stop midway, causing a huge traffic jam. It was so funny, especially when the drivers got impatient and started honking their horns while the blissfully unaware deer stood their ground.
Our hotel for the night was the Out N About Treesort in the woods of Cave Junction.
We got to stay in the amazing Swiss Complex treehouse which was so cosy inside and covered in fairy lights. There was even a squirrel waiting in the tree when we arrived.
There were lots of things to see around the rest of the treesort too, including lovely horses and tree swings.
We were feeling super hungry after we got settled in, so we headed to Cave Junction in search of food and ended up at Going Deep Sushi.
The sushi was good and they had a unique selection, including vegan sushi, however the tempura sweet potato fries were amazing!
