      We woke up in Columbia, South Carolina this morning which seemed to be an awesome arty town with sculptures everywhere, including this giant chain between two buildings.

      There was also a gigantic fire hydrant in the middle of a parking lot.

      There was an amazing mural on the wall behind it.

    We then drove up to North Carolina where we passed a water tower shaped like a baseball.

      We past by another abandoned religious theme park called Heritage USA and couldn't resist stopping to take a look.

      It was once the third most popular theme park in the US. There used to be a castle but now only a gigantic derelict hotel remains.

    Our next stop was Asheville, a city so hipster it could give Portland a run for it's money.

      We stopped for lunch at the Green Sage Cafe where I had a delicious tempeh salad.

    We went for a walk around the city afterwards to see some of the street art.

    We got a scoop of carrot cake ice cream with peanut butter cups mixed in from the Marble Slab Creamery.

    It was then time to get back on the road and head through the Smoky Mountains to Tennessee.

    Tom stopped to get me some boiled peanuts from a shack at the side of the road. They taste more like butter beans than nuts but I love them.

      That evening we were staying onboard the Delta Queen Hotel n in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

      The Delta Queen is a retired famous paddle steamer which is now being used as a floating hotel on the Tennessee River.

      Our stateroom felt so cozy with windows overlooking the river and bridges.
