  1. Edit

It was rainy and stormy when we woke up in Charlottesville this morning and not ideal weather for the beach but that's exactly where we were headed.

  2. Checkin at Spudnuts
    1. Edit

We stopped off at Spudnuts to try some donuts made with potato which Harriet had recommended to us.

    2. Edit

They were tasty and just like normal donuts with a slight potato aftertaste.

  3. Edit

The winds had grown so strong by the time we arrived at Virginia Beach that we could hardly open the car doors.

  4. Checkin at Cape Henry Lighthouse-Fort Story
    1. Edit

After letting the navy search our car, we made it out to see the Cape Henry Lighthouse and the sight of the first landing of colonists to America.

  5. Checkin at Hot Tuna
    1. Edit

We sheltered from the storm by hitting up the happy hour at Hot Tuna.

    2. Edit

I had several margaritas and a salmon noodle salad.

  6. Checkin at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
    1. Edit

To get to Delaware, we needed to cross over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which is part bridge and part tunnel stretching over 20 miles.

    2. Edit

There was a rest stop in the middle where you could see giant ships passing in between the bridge over the tunnel which was kind of surreal. There was even a restaurant where you could dine while giant waves crashed against the windows.

    3. Edit

The rain got really heavy as we got further across the sea and we were glad when we arrived at the other side in Ocean City.
