    We woke up in Spokane, Washington this morning. It's amazing that, even though we managed to visit all of states the last time we were hear, we're not doubling up on any sites or crossing or old path.

      We started off at Frank's, a diner is in an old presidential rail car which has been voted the best breakfast in Spokane.

      Tom and I shared a Belgian Waffle and the Veggie Egg Benedict, which were both pretty good.

    We passed a building shaped like a milk bottle nearby.

      We stopped at the Riverfront Park for a walk and to get a squished penny from the carousel.

      There was a giant toy truck with a slide and Tom couldn't resist having a go.

      There was also a goat who eats garbage and we fed him some leaves.

      We walked through the park to see the falls before heading off.

      Our next stop was Wallace, Idaho which I've wanted to visit since reading Danny Wallace & The Center Of The Universe.

      The mayor proclaimed a manhole cover in the middle of the town to be the center of the universe, because nobody can prove it otherwise.

      There was a super retro motel in the town which had a UFO outside.

      We stopped in to the railroad museum where we were given a quick tour before hitting the road.

      Our motel for the night was at the Dog Park Inn where we would sleep in a giant beagle.

      The beagle had a bedroom and bathroom in the main body with an attic in the head with a cosy little nook in the nose.

      We chatted to the owners, Frances and Dennis for hours and they were really sweet. They said it had always been their dream to open a dog motel and told us about some of the guests who had come before us, including Dave Gorman.

      The dog was so cosy inside with dog memorabilia, books and board games in every room. The fridge was stocked full of drinks, snacks and home baked treats for us to tuck in to.

      We popped out for dinner at the local restaurant where I had a gigantic salad topped with goats cheese, cranberries and pecans.

    We spent the night tucked up in the fairy-lit dog's nose, eating snacks and putting together a puzzle of US roadside attractions. It gave me lots of new ideas for places to stop on our trip.
