Today's challenge was to drive 300 miles south from Fairbanks, back to Anchorage where we started off.

Our first stop was Nenana, home to the famous Nenana Ice Classic where locals, and people from all over the world, place bets on when the ice on the river will break.

  4. Edit

A tripod is placed on the ice, which tracks the exact minute the ice breaks. We put a bet on May 19th 2014 at 11.11 am.

  5. Checkin at Denali National Park and Preserve
    1. Edit

Our next stop was Denali National Park, home to grizzly bears, moose and thousands of other wildlife.

    2. Edit

We took a trek through the spruce forest which was so pretty. The colours were amazing.

    3. Edit

We spotted a cute red squirrel, nibbling on acorns in one of the trees.

    4. Edit

Tom really wanted to meet a bear, but I don't think he'd be so excited if he actually met one in the wild.

  6. Edit

Continuing our drive, we stopped at a five-story igloo which was built as a hotel which never opened.

  7. Edit

It was creepy but really cool and we'd totally stay the night if someone ever buys it.

  8. Edit

We had to keep an eye out for moose on the road as it began to get dark.

  9. Edit

We made one final stop at an ice cream shop before we got back to Anchorage.

  10. Edit

We ordered a scoop of Moose Tracks and a scoop of Espresso Explosion and the cone was gigantic. I can see why Alaskans eat so much ice cream!
