We had been needing a new coffee table for a while and, when MoneySupermarket got in touch to ask if we'd like to be part of their Room For Improvement Challenge, we knew it was the perfect excuse to make something special!

I've always dreamed of having a great way to display my squished penny collection, so Tom turned the top of our coffee table in to a shadowbox, with individual compartments for each penny.

As part of the competition, they provided us £50 to spend however we liked on improving one room of our house. We used it to buy wood, tools and have glass cut to size for the table.

The room looks so much better with our awesome new table and it's so great to be reminded of all of our adventures by having the pennies on display. I love it and there's plenty of space for new coins, which I will no doubt fill with the help of my internet pen-pals and our next American road-trip!
