Tom’s working on his E.P. I wonder if it has a name yet, he’s too shy to tell me these things. He sits at his computer drumming away on his drum machine all day, wasting talent like water, so I challenged him to have an E.P. out by the end of the year. I didn’t think he’d actually take my challenge seriously, but he says it’s going great and it’s really catchy. I’m going to challenge him more often. (Bet you couldn’t fix my laptop’s track pad!)

This is my very first entry in to my personal day-to-day blog. I’ve been running Cut Out + Keep for over a year now and it’s grown in to something huge but it also meant that I have neglected my livejournal, my personal blogs and my diaries for that whole time. I tried writing about personal things on Cut Out + Keep, but I think people prefer when I stick to the creative stuff. I wish I had been noting the happenings of my life down though, that way I could figure out how it all got so huge and use the same formula all over again.

So yes, it’s time I started writing down everything that goes on in my hectic life and crazy mind. At this very moment in my life I am working on a number of things. The first is a film with my very good friend, John Robert Connelly, for our collaboration project FleshTunnel Films. The piece is a strange music video-esq short film about a man who realises that the only thing that comes out when he speaks is an internet dial-up tone. The story focuses on how he gets through his normal day but then, later on, he discovers that he can use his voice as a super power and starts running around saving people and fixing problems with it. The film will be set to The Acute’s song Transient Shining Trouble, which Steph kindly agreed for us to use. It’s been a very fast paced project and we start shooting this weekend, so expect to see a final product by Christmas time.

My second project is my honours project for university. This is a feature-ish film called Third Time Lucky and is about drug dealing, seduction and blackmail. At the moment, I’m working on my final draught of the script but the film is pretty much cast. Over Christmas I will work on my storyboards and locations and then it should all be set to shoot by the end of January / February. I’m also working on a couple of smaller film projects – I’m shooting footage for the new Visit Dundee advert, a promo video for Women’s Aid and also planning a music video for my songwriter friend Jill. Things are incredibly hectic at the moment and I guess I better get some sleep, it is 6 am after all.
